HAND PAINTED Civil War Toy Soldiers COMPLETE Marx 60mm Set with EXTRAS
These figures include primarily recasts of these first Marx sets, several originals, described in the next paragraph, and also one unique resin casting of the Union mounted guidon bearer carrying the 2nd Corps, 2nd Division Flag the Irish Brigade! , that I had cast for my use only, so this figure is unavailable from anyone else! And included in this group are FIVE of the original hard plastic "Warriors of the World", who came to me mostly "battle damaged" at some time in their 40 years of existence: the kneeling Union soldier firing his revolver - the revolver was damaged and I replaced it with a TSSD hand and revolver, which looks more realistic than the original casting! He also was missing the piece of ground attached to his knee, which was probably for addition support, but he looks good without it and kneels effortlessly! Also, the Union charging figure who had both ends of his rifle broken off and one of his two bases broken, so I custom fit the ends of a Cunnyngham Collectibles rifle and attached a piece of sheet plastic the same size as the initial base, and he came out well, too, as you would probably agree from the photos! The Confederate loading his rifle was similarly battle damaged, so I again used a Cunnyngham Collectibles rifle and a hand made steel rod rammer to restore his appearance to "like new"! The last two "Warriors of the World" include the two Confederate Generals, the one with his hands on his holster and sword handle had a broken hat brim, so I again used a matching depth plastic sheet to repair the brim, and again, as you can see in the photos, another success! And finally the saluting General, who was undamaged, but with paint faded and worn off, so like all the the others, I finished him to match the rest of the troops in the set! A photo of the specific former "Warriors of the World" is included so you can see the modifications up close to see how I repaired and refinished them! And note that the one Confederate general's hat was touched up after the group photos showed the gold braid was not trimmed properly after being painted, so I added a photo of the officer group and the former "Warriors of the World" show the finished general after the trim was corrected. Included with this set you would receive ALL SIXTEEN of the initial poses produced in the mid'50's by the Marx Toy Company! In addition to the Marx figures, the set also includes the two Americana Generals, which are the best figures this firm has ever produced, and interestingly, they are 60mm figures! So I included them to make a very complete group for the true Civil War enthusiast who might also have been fascinated by this initial set when it came out about 60 years ago! The Union group includes the kneeling officer firing his revolver, the charging soldier with the bayoneted rifle, and a standing firing rifleman in action poses, plus a marching soldier, a courier carrying orders in a satchel, and a Cavalry bugler sounding a call! You also receive the mounted infantry staff officer carrying the guidon, and a mounted cavalryman! As Marx never produced horses for these figures that really fit them well, I used some superbly cast Toy Soldiers of San Diego cavalry horses for both of the Union mounted poses as well as the Confederate Cavalryman described in the next paragraph! The Confederates included in the group consist of the two standing generals and soldier loading his rifle, described earlier, a Confederate artilleryman with a bandaged head holding a ramrod and signalling to an unseen friend along the battle line, and one marching pose. In addition, you would receive one standing firing rifleman, and one advancing soldier with his bayoneted rifle pointed straight ahead, and the mounted cavalryman with his customized sword over his head. The recasts do not produce the hilt of the sword too well, so I added a TSSD sword to give the handle a better appearance as well as the sword blade itself!

The figures come dressed in typical Union uniforms of dark blue jackets, and sky blue trousers, while the Confederates come in an assortment of grays, butternut and sky blue, which I painted to represent the figures as they might appear iby the middle of the War, with their weapons, equipment, horses and accoutrements accurately depicted! This highly detailed and very UNIQUE group would make an interesting looking display in most anyone's Civil War display or 60 mm toy soldier collection!! And with the 150th Anniversary of this momentous event in our Nation's history just concluded, a neat way to display your remembrance of the Civil War! I've hand painted over 19,400 soldiers for collectors in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and even Japan in the last twelve years! My Civil War background began as a child on my first trip to Gettysburg, over 50 years ago, and I suit up in my complete Union Artillery sergeant's uniform to teach the Civil War to my wife's 5th Grade class each year!
